Years ago, back in the late 1960s, Sterling Farms Golf Course was an idea that was made possible by some daring people of action. They found the means to overcome some political obstacles, and took charge using a little Yankee engineering (and a lot of creative thinking) to buy the land and develop what is now the Sterling Farms of today. WELCOME This endeavor involved risk-taking, 'out-of-the-box' thinking, and a little luck. We all make our own luck in life, just like golf! Today our goal is the same: to make your days at Sterling Farms as enjoyable as possible. We all strive for that, and will never stop looking for ways to improve, just like golf! At Sterling Farms attention to detail is paramount... from the way we trim and nurture every blade of grass, graft our plants, stage the shows in our theatres, or how our PGA Golf Profession- als fit your golf clubs... it is something everyone here takes to heart, and works to achieve. We want to provide the Stamford community with the very best services and facilities possible. This first issue of Sterling Farms Golfer is like another plant in our garden. Its purpose is to accentuate what we already have, and to contribute toward our overall efforts to flourish. I hope you will join us in helping it to grow by lending us your voice. Could be in a video, a story you want to tell, anything, because you are what makes Sterling Farms unique! It is just one more way for us to share the pride and joy we take in serving you and our community. On behalf of all of us here at Sterling Farms, welcome and thank you! So, what is Sterling Farms Golfer? It is our love of golf, Sterling Farms, our experiences... as told in our own voices. It is a way for us to stockpile and scrapbook our memories, whatever they may be, for the record. You could be anyone, like longtime Sterling Farms golfers Pat Dillon, Dan Hogan, Ralph Dagostino, Gary Fox, or Tony Totilo... people who have played here since the very beginning. Or, you could be like me... new to Sterling Farms... brimming with naïveté and enthusiasm. Nothing wrong with a fresh perspective, eh?
