CAB Solar’s high quality hangers deliver safe, strong and durable cable support with important advantages over trenching or cable tray. CAB innovative multi-carrier hangers safely separate bundles of cables to meet NEC requirements. Over 25 standard CAB designs are offered to safely support large bundles of string wires, DC feeders, as well as AC, data or other cabling. Custom hanger configurations are also easily manufactured to meet specific project requirements. Call CAB at any time regarding your project needs. CAB’s cable management system has gained wide attention and acceptance because it is quick and easy to install which results in large labor savings on the job site. Each hanger attaches in less than five seconds. Cables are easily loaded and the hanger locked in place with a strong, tight grip on the messenger wire. Maintenance and troubleshooting is easy as hangers can be opened and then locked back in place at any time. Standardizing cable management with CAB® Solarhelps to lower engineering costs in a developer’s portfolio of projects. In addition, it provides more predictable costs of installation compared to trenching or cable tray, which can be problematic.CAB’s innovative multi-carrier hangers safely separate cables to meet NEC.Over 25 standard designs to meet specific project requirements. “Using purpose-built products like CAB Cable Rings and Saddles for exposed cable management in a PV array is well substan-tiated by NEC and industry installation standards. “Multiple hanger sections such as those in various configurations of CAB Cable Rings and Saddles, create effective separation of conductors that allow for dc, ac, and communication cables to be supported with a single ring type.” From White Paper published by Bill Brooks, Brooks Engineering:Patent Protected www.cabproducts.com/patentsPatent Protected www.cabproducts.com/patentsCAB® Solar Delivers Important Engineering Advantages.CAB Mid-Pier L-Bracket Kit for support of mes-senger wire.CAB End-Pier Kit for anchoring messenger wire to end piers.Individual CAB hangers are easily attached to the messenger wire. Cables are safely separated to meet NEC.CAB Solar Hangers are manufactured from class 3 galvanized, high tensile strength spring steel for maximum strength and corrosion resistance. Hangers receive a thick, durable PVC coating that provides added safety and protection for cables. The coating is flame retardant, high dielectric grade, chemical resistant and UV stablized for long service life. CAB’s 80 mil (2mm) thick PVC coating has a dielectric breakdown strength of 400 volts per mil (.025mm). The high performance coating is applied on 100% of the surface which makes CAB hangers totally insulated and durable in highly corrosive environments. It is available in two standard colors: dark gray and high-visibility safety orange. CAB’s Solar Cable Management System is ETL safety listed to the following Safety Standards: UL 2239, UL 1565, CAN/CSA C22.2 No. 18.4-15 and CAN/CSA C22.2 No. 18.5-13.Patent Protected www.cabproducts.com/patentsPatent Protected www.cabproducts.com/patentsCopyright © 2017 Cambria County Association for the Blind and Handicapped. This is primarily due to the extensive use of exposed cables used in the dc PV array. Since the equipment is installed outdoors on rooftops and in open fields, the electrical conductors must be rated for sunlight resistance and be supported and secured properly. Most electricians are referred to as “indoor wiremen” and are familiar with installing conductors in conduit, but have little, if any, experience working with exposed cables in power systems. These exposed cable power systems are common in the utility and petroleum industries and there are decades of experience with these types of systems. Since the National Electrical Code (NEC) does not regulate either of these industries, there is little in the NEC to guide these types of installations. While the NEC may not have a lot of guidance on exposed cable management, there are several references to such systems and there are broad requirements for safe wiring practices that can be used to develop best practices for exposed cable systems in solar PV systems. This document will lay out the basic requirements found in the 2014 NEC and relate those requirements to Cable Rings and Saddles manufactured by the company CAB that are relevant to the NEC requirements and industry standard installation practices.
