SHIPPAX GUIDEUpfront This year’s Shippax Guide reached you much later than we had hoped. We regret this and entreat your understanding. The delay was caused by our deliberate decision to wait for the arrival of the much anticipated COLOR HYBRID. The inclu- sion of this ground-breaking newbuild, we believed, would enrich the content of this issue. I hope you will agree upon reading. Choosing COLOR HYBRID as the theme vessel was an opportunity too good to miss. This innovative newbuild is not just another ordinary ro-pax. Quite the contrary, she is extraordinary. As her name suggests, the ship is built with hybrid pro- pulsion technology. She sails emission-free and almost noiselessly up and down the Sandefjordsfjord. In this respect, COLOR HYBRID is undoubtedly a benchmark. Besides the obvious green credenti- als, there are other modern features that make this vessel stand out from the crowd. Reading through Bruce Peter’s onboard re- port, which you would find in the following pages, I could feel his palpitating enthusi- asm over how different this ship was from all the others. It immediately whetted my appetite for travelling on her – something I must do, soon. All too often, the word ‘game-changer’ is used inaccurately, but in the case of COLOR HYBRID we believe it is utterly appropriate. With a balanced mix of richly illustra- ted articles, we did our utmost to paint as accurate and complete a picture of the ship as possible. We would like to thank all those who have assisted us in preparing and produ- cing this issue. Although we mention no names here, rest assured that none of you is forgotten. Adhering to an established tradition, the second part of this annual consists of an alphabetical register of all ro-pax ferries exceeding 1,000 gross tons, as well as cru- ise and ro-ro vessels of all sizes, including those still on order. This time, all cruise ships are illustrated with colour photos. Enjoy the read!
